The essential function of the position within the organization is to assist in all City Roadway Signage Management. The position will be tasked with the production and maintenance of roadway signage. The position will assist in a wide variety of traffic control-related tasks, including but not limited to, roadway signage management, temporary traffic control, and temporary traffic signal deployment. The position works under general supervision and reports to the Traffic Operations Manager.
Fabrication of City Roadway Signage. Installation of City Roadway Signage. Performs field inventory of existing and needed Roadway Signage. Assist with all other applicable sign manufacturing needs for other city departments. Assists with temporary traffic control (sets cones, signs, signals, etc.) Ensures timely completion of projects of responsibility. Develops and maintains a working knowledge of MUTCD requirements for signage and temporary traffic control. Sets up traffic control, flags, and directs traffic. Operates a forklift. Cleans vehicles and equipment. Assists with traffic control for special events. Maintains required documentation such as work orders, logs, or records, and submits to the supervisor periodically. Other duties as assigned, including assisting other departments as necessary.
Education Requirements: Requires high school diploma, GED, or specialized vocational training. Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations Required: Requires valid Tennessee Driver's License. Experience Requirements: Requires three months of related experience.
Physical Demands: Requires medium to heavy work involving standing or walking all of the time, stooping, lifting, pushing, digging, raising objects, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force on a regular basis, 50-100 lbs on an occasional basis, and moderate dexterity and skill in operating machinery or tools.
