This position works under the direction of the Cultural Resources Program Manager.The position is responsible for managing the district's museum and archaeological collections, including acquisition, conservation, and documentation, in accordance with department and professional standards. The Museum Curator I will also be considered for recruitment purposes.The ideal candidate must be familiar with the Department's online collections management program - TMS (The Museum System) - and conduct inventories of district collections and museum objects on exhibit. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and managing curation and museum housekeeping plans to protect and preserve collections; monitoring, evaluating, and documenting conditions of objects, security, and environmental controls; overseeing Integrated Pest Management programs; ensuring proper handling of objects for storage or exhibition in line with current policies; and coordinating temporary moves of museum objects for exhibits and special events. Experience working with Native American communities and collections is preferred.Training and Development Assignments may be considered. This position is not eligible for telework. A valid Class C driver's license is required; please include license details in your application.
