    Job Title

    Hydropower Operations and Maintenance Manager

    Job Description

    The Hydropower Operations and Maintenance Manager will help develop, implement, and track Hydropower Operation and Maintenance budgets for the District. They will also develop policies, guidelines, strategies, objectives, and plans that align with Corps' strategic goals, using risk-informed asset management and reliability engineering principles. The role involves leading the development and prioritization of long-term investment strategies for operating, maintaining, repairing, replacing, or disposing of assets. The manager will represent the Mobile District on all Hydropower matters, participate in the development of hydropower policy and regulations, and provide input for long-range plans. They will lead and direct a District Hydropower Operations and Maintenance Program by enforcing District and Division policy at field sites. The manager will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work. They will develop performance standards, evaluate subordinates, and make selections for subordinate positions. The manager will identify developmental and training needs of employees and make decisions on nonroutine, costly, or controversial training requests. They will provide technical liaison between power projects, HTSC, and other elements of a District, including engineering, contracting, personnel, and operations. The manager will advise and recommend to field elements actions on matters pertaining to power projects, including supply requisitions, contracts, equipment repairs, and schedules of work. They will maintain continuous review of the actual status of power projects through personal inspections, written reports, and daily communication. The manager will provide technical advice to field elements and support operation and maintenance programs required by regulations to ensure projects accomplish their authorized tasks. They will communicate with the Southeastern Power Administration (SEPA) and the Department of Energy on matters related to the operation of power projects. The manager will attend meetings with hydropower stakeholders, including Power Market Agencies, power preference customers, and other District, Division, and National hydropower personnel. They will coordinate the District's requirements with the Hydropower Technical Services Center (HTSC). The manager will discuss circumstances and ramifications with higher authority and prepare presentations for higher echelons for decision-making.
