divh2Marion County Deputy/h2pMarion County Deputies may be assigned to various divisions within the MCSO, duties include securing city/county facilities including the Adult Detention Center, City-County Building, Sheriffs Headquarters, and Marion County Superior Courts; serving of criminal warrants that are issued by the Marion County Criminal Courts and any warrants that are verified through other police agency or court in or out of state; service of civil court papers, protective orders, evictions and replevins; policing of sex offenders within Marion County. Deputies perform law enforcement functions as required in and around the facilities, provide information and assistance to City-County employees and visitors, and other duties as directed by the Sheriff. Advancement opportunities available upon completion of one year of employment./ppCustody and care of arrestees./ppMaintain security within City/County facilities./ppCommunicate with arrestees, attorneys, personnel of other government agencies, and the public./ppRespond to emergency situations within the facility/ppTransport of inmates/arrestees to and from court room/ppPerform searches of arrested subjects/ppAccount for inmate/arrestee property/ppServes protective orders and assists other units in serving orders to vacate, write of assistance and arrests on wanted persons./ppAttend regular in-service training session/ppServes individuals with respective warrant (Probable Cause, Probation, Failure to Appear, and Parole)./ppMay be required to transport arrested subject to the ADC for booking procedures./ppReceives, gathers, organizes, and compiles narrative/statistical data concerning work unit operations, reviews information to assure data accuracy/completeness./ppResponds to weather and disaster call-outs and crime prevention./ppMay perform other duties as assigned by superiors./ppMust be a resident citizen of the United States/ppMust be at least 21 years old/ppMust have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency (HSE) diploma/ppNo battery or felony conviction/ppMust be able to work any shift or duty schedule/ppMust successfully complete a comprehensive written exam, physical agility assessment, and oral interview/ppMust submit to a character and background investigation but not limited to: Credit Rating, Previous Employment, Criminal Record, and Driving Record/ppBe in sound mental and physical health verified by a physician designated by the Agency. There is no recourse to rejection by the Agencys physician./ppRequired to complete MCSO training; and must also attend a mandatory 16-week on-site training at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA), within the first 12 months of employment./ppIndependent judgment is used on a regular basis, with guidance from supervisory staff./ppFraternization (Undesirable) 1.Employees shall not consort with, or in any way fraternize with, persons of known bad character or ill repute in a manner which will conflict with the duties of the Employee or functions of the Sheriffs Office. 2.Employees shall not fraternize with the spouse, girlfriend, or boyfriend of any incarcerated person./p/div
