The City of Roanoke is seeking a Crime Analyst to research, analyze, and prepare crime data, statistics, and reports. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to locating, compiling, and analyzing information, statistics, and other crime data from computer databases to identify patterns of crime, assist with identifying or targeting suspects, and patrolling of problem areas. They successful applicant will collect and analyze statistical information using surveys and recognized quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques and review, analyze, and disseminate crime reports. They will also create and maintain computer databases, spreadsheets, and graphical displays using appropriate software. Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with major in statistics, business administration, public administration, geography, criminal justice or related field; one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of SQL and GIS preferred. Must be in possession of a valid appropriate driver's permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
