Police Officer Salary: $122,236 -$175,178/year* *Minimum includes 5.38% holiday pay and a $1,800 uniform allowance.     • Hiring Incentive - $20,000
    • Holiday Pay - 5.38%
    • Educational Incentive - 2.5% for Associate's Degree/5% for Bachelor's Degree
    • Senior Officer Program - 2.5-12% (depends on qualifications)
    • Bilingual Premium - 2.5%
    • Clothing Allowance - $1,800/year
    • Tuition Reimbursement - $2,200/year
    • Graveyard Shift Differential - $520/month
    • Take-home Vehicle Program

    The City of Vacaville is recruiting motivated, professional Police Officers committed to public safety, crime prevention and service to a diverse community. This position is responsible for maintaining the peace and enforcing federal, state and municipal laws. The Vacaville Police Department is committed to delivering exceptional law enforcement services to our diverse and growing community. With over 175 full-time employees, including 116 sworn positions, we offer opportunities across Patrol, K-9, Investigations, Narcotics, Crime Suppression, Tactical Operations, Traffic Enforcement and Family Services.     Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

    • Education: Successful completion of the Police Academy is required. An A.A./A.S. degree is desirable. Military service and relevant training may also be considered.
    • Experience: Successful completion of probation as a sworn law enforcement officer in the State of California.
    • License or Certificate: Possession of, or eligibility for, the California POST Basic Certificate is required. Out-of-state Peace Officers applying for this position must provide proof of successful completion of the Basic POST Course Waiver process with their application.
    • Other: Police Officer candidates must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of appointment; must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law; must be able to successfully complete a thorough background investigation and successfully meet the job dimension criteria as recommended by POST. Spanish bilingual skills are highly desirable. Incumbents must successfully complete the Vacaville Police Department Field Training Program as a condition of continued employment.
