    Overview

    The Security Police Officer provides armed security, law enforcement support, and first-response emergency services at a U.S. Government facility. This position enforces federal law, assimilated state law, and applicable regulations while maintaining the safety and security of personnel, property, and mission-critical assets. The officer conducts mobile patrols, responds to incidents, and serves as a visible security presence across the installation.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide access control and traffic control, ensuring safe and secure movement throughout the facility, and conduct both walking and motorized armed security patrols.
    • Conduct personnel, vehicular, building, and facility inspections, including package and parcel screenings, in accordance with established security procedures.
    • Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required to support operational needs.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall security operations.
    Qualifications
    • Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
    • Must be at least 21 years of age.
    • Two years of service in the United States Armed Services (including Reserve or National Guard), OR
    • Any combination of two years of experience in physical security (as a security officer - armed or unarmed) and service with the United States Armed Services (including Reserves or National Guard), OR
    • Associate's degree in a Security or Law Enforcement related field, OR
    • Successful completion of a police officer's basic training academy.
    • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
    • Must meet or exceed the Minimum Medical and Physical Standards for an Armed Security Officers outlined in Interagency Security Committee, Best Practices for Armed Security Officers in Federal Facilities, Appendix B: (April 2013, 2nd Edition).
    • Must satisfactorily qualify with a 9 mm semi-auto pistol handgun and M4 semi-automatic rifle, and shotgun qualification course administered by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) quarterly.
    • Must complete and successfully pass the FLETC Active Shooter Threat Training Program (ASTTP).
    • The PAT requirements are in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Federal Protective Services requirements. All armed officers must able to exhibit full range of motion, able to easily get down to and up from a kneeling position, lift 40 pounds minimum from floor to waist, bench press at least 40 percent of his or her body weight, perform sit-ups and push-ups continuously for at least 30 seconds each and complete a .5 mile course as a timed event based on age and gender.
    • Must satisfactorily pass initial and random drug testing.
    • Must satisfactorily pass initial psychological testing.


    Estimated Salary/Wage

    Up to USD $26.22/Hr.
