The base annual wage is generated from a base hourly rate of $23.17 per hour under the standard rotating 12 hour shift schedule. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a 7 day pay cycle. Additional overtime opportunities forshift coverage may be available per departmental policy. These opportunities would provide pay in excess of the estimated base annual wage.
The purpose of the class is to receive in-coming emergency and non-emergency calls; to dispatch calls for law enforcement, fire, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and other personnel and services in an accurate, timely and professional manner; to provide training and leadership of dispatchers; to maintain accurate and complete dispatch records; and to perform related work as required. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.
Essential job functions include:
Education and experience: Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent. Requires at least three (3) year of related work experience including 9-11 supervisory experience.
Special qualifications: Must possess Emergency-911, Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). APCO or NENA Training Officer (CTO) preferred; Must be completed within 6 months of hire. APCO or NENA 9-1-1 Center Supervisor Certification preferred; Must be completed within one (1) year of hire. Completion of ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certifications. Minimum typing speed of 30-35 words per minute required.
