What you'll do
- Greet and direct the public and internal staff to appropriate resources within the Public Works Department or throughout the organization to ensure timely and accurate assistance
- Respond to information requests and resolve routine complaints to support positive customer experiences
- Monitor and respond to incoming calls, 311 emails, and online inquiries for the Public Works Department to ensure no request goes unanswered
- Work with independence and judgment in accordance with city and departmental policies and regulations to handle service requests appropriately
- Respond promptly to reports transmitted to Public Works in real time based on the coding selected in the My KCMO system to support efficient service delivery
- Update the assigned Public Works division, provide input through the My KCMO portal, share updates with the reporter, and close cases once a resolution is provided by the department

- Customer inquiries and service requests are responded to promptly and accurately
- Reports submitted through My KCMO are routed correctly and updated in real time
- Communication between residents and Public Works divisions is clear, professional, and consistent
- Routine complaints are resolved efficiently and in line with city policy
- Cases are documented thoroughly and closed appropriately once resolved

Qualifications
REQUIRES
- High school graduation or GED and one (1) year of public or private sector experience in customer service work OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to pass a background check as prescribed by the City

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained. Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
