    Job Summary
    The County of San Diego is currently accepting applications for
    Crime and Intelligence Analyst

    The starting salary for this position will be based on the candidate's qualifications at time of appointment.

    Future Salary Increases

    June 2026 - 4.49% increase to base pay (3.00% Across-the-Board + 1.49% Market Adjustment)

    June 2027 - 4.49% increase to base pay (3.00% Across-the-Board + 1.49% Market Adjustment)

    The Crime & Intelligence Analyst classification is used in both the Sheriff's Office and the District Attorney's office. Crime & Intelligence Analysts compile, independently analyze, evaluate, correlate, and disseminate crime data, crime reports, and other criminal intelligence information provided by local, State, and Federal law enforcement agencies relative to general criminal activities.
    The current vacancy is in the Sheriff's Office. However, eligible candidates are encouraged to apply as this list may also be used for vacancies in other County of San Diego departments.

    Minimum Qualification
    1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in criminal justice, public administration, business administration, or a closely related field, AND, two (2) years of full time experience in a Crime Analysis Unit, Crime Prevention Unit, or Law Enforcement Unit in the collection, analysis, and presentation of complex crime data; OR,
    2. An associate's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency AND a certificate in crime and/or intelligence analysis or related field; AND, three (3) years of full time experience in a Crime Analysis Unit, Crime Prevention Unit, or Law Enforcement Unit in the collection, analysis, and presentation of complex crime data.

    Note: Additional years of experience as described above may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. A master's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in any of the fields described above may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
