Starting Pay: $21.00 per hour
Under direction from the Community Improvements Manager, this position performs a variety of inspections of building and properties to ensure compliance with City of Amarillo Municipal Code, nuisance complaints, substandard structures, weedsand uncultivated growth, junk and debris, junk vehicles, building code requirements. This position also performs Parking Enforcement duties.
No supervision of others.
Essential Responsibilities
Minimum Requirements
Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent and a minimum of one-year experience with high public contact. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Must obtain the ICC Property Maintenance Code the ICC Code Enforcement Officer Certification, within twelve months of employment. Valid Texas Driver's License required or obtained within 30 days. Must be able to complete and pass a TCOLE Personal History background check.
A City Marshal employee must have an excellent reputation to maintain the public's trust. The following factors would automatically disqualify an applicant: Any felony or Class a Misdemeanor conviction; Class B Misdemeanor conviction within the last 10 years; any conviction of family violence; currently under indictment for any criminal offense; or a discharge from the military under less than Honorable conditions. The following factors could disqualify an applicant: Any illegal possession or use of a controlled substance, including marijuana; excessive traffic convictions; or a history of bad debt.
