These individuals understand the working principles and how all systems and components work on a boat. They use diagnostic equipment to test and repair boat engines, hulls, propellers, rigging, and navigational equipment. Senior Technicians are responsible for providing expert technical knowledge and experience and helping to train other Teammates.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork closely with Service Manager to provide accurate and detailed work ordersConduct thorough assessment prior to starting a job including acknowledging the budgeted time and time frame for completion, proving the system and the element requiring service, sourcing parts if requiredExpert knowledge of marine systems including electrical, plumbing & water systemsProven experience troubleshooting, repair, and install vessel systems and components including but not limited to electrical, electronics, HVAC, plumbing & water systems (fresh, salt, and waste), gas and diesel enginesAssign parts and purchases to the appropriate vessels/ticketsExcellent time management skills, customer service, attention to detail, and self-motivationPromote and encourage a safe working environmentProvide timely updates and takes initiative to exceed member satisfaction, even if it requires overcoming challengeMust possess own toolsSignificant experience with both gas and diesel engines preferredServe as a mentor for technicians new to the field or SHMAvailability to work overtime in order to meet deadlinesSafety and Environmental ResponsibilitiesFollow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related trainingWear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work areaReport all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediatelyTechnical and Physical RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredMarine Technical school training preferred10 years + experience preferredABYC Master Technician preferredMultiple certifications across engine brandsAbility to ascend and descend a ladderAbility to work in confined spacesAbility to lift 50 poundsBasic boat handling skills preferredAny skills considered standard that a Senior Technician should possessMinimum Soft Skills QualificationsEagerness to engage in a growing, fast paced, and industry-leading companyConsistently treats others with dignity and respectGenuinely serves others with humility and a positive attitudeFrequently demonstrates a bias toward actionAlways communicates effectively and courteously with fellow teammates and membersContinuously follows policies and procedures while seeking out new and better ways of accomplishing dutiesShows resolve and overcomes difficulties in a positive and productive mannerGladly provides responsive, and high level of service to our teammates and membersEagerly puts forth the extra effort to accomplish dutiesAdapts quickly and efficiently to changing priorities in order to meet teammate or member needsThe CompanySafe Harbor Marinas provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applications for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics.
