    About the Position: Incumbents are assigned responsibilities, involving the inspection of buildings and grounds for elimination of fire hazards, enforcement of laws, rules and regulations and providing security at Central Oklahoma Community Mental Health Center. Typical work duties may include patrolling assigned premises to identify and correct fire hazards; providing assistance to employees or visitors; directing traffic; and performing other duties related to the protection of state property, employees, visitors and others.

    Job Type/Salary:
    • Full-time position. Days and Shifts may vary.
    • F&S Salary Level I: $29,500 ($14.18/hourly)
    • F&S Salary Level II: $31,500 ($15.14/hourly)
    • Non-Exempt

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
    • F&S Level I: No requisite education and experience are required for consideration.
    • F&S Level II: Completion of a basic security and/or firefighter's course, and 2 years of experience in security or fire prevention and protection work.
    Special Requirements:
    • Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of lifting/carrying 60 pounds occasionally, and able to push and pull a maximum force of 30 pounds.
    • Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver's license.

    About us: COCMHC was opened in 1968 and was the nation's first community mental health center. It was funded through a federal grant program that has resulted in similar facilities throughout the country. Built on the premise that people suffering from mental illnesses would be better served in the community as opposed to an institution, the center has played a pivotal role in restoring the lives of countless area residents. COCMHC was awarded a CARF Three-Year Accreditation for the following programs: PACT (Program of Assertive Community Treatment), Evaluation and Referral, Adult Outpatient, Team Green PSR (Psychiatric Rehabilitation), Systems of Care and Transitional Services, and Child and Family Services. COCMHC is located in Norman, Oklahoma and employs approximately 95 individuals from Norman and surrounding communities.

    Drug and Alcohol Pre-employment and Preplacement Testing: Upon a conditional offer of employment, applicants for safety sensitive positions shall be required to submit to urinalysis to test for drugs. Appointment to a safety sensitive position shall be contingent upon a negative drug test result.
