We are seeking a full-time Patrol Officer to join our Public Safety team downtown Milwaukee, WI. As a Patrol Officer, you'll play a key role in ensuring the MSOE campus remains a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and faculty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Primary responsibilities include proactively patrolling campus buildings and property and responding to both emergency and non-emergency calls from the MSOE community and the public for assistance. Pay: $27.50/hour
Schedule- Thursday through Monday, 4:00pm to 12:00am // Off days Tuesdays and Wednesdays
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as assigned
- Training schedule may vary slightly
- Extensive, paid training to set you up for success

- Respond to all emergency and non-emergency calls from the MSOE community and the public requesting assistance and/or police, fire, medical or other emergency services
- Determine the nature and location of the emergency, determine priorities, and direct Public Safety Patrol Officers or other emergency personnel as necessary in accordance with established procedures
- Enforce and comply with all University rules and regulations
- Good verbal and written communications skills, including clear and concise speech
- React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
- Must maintain all required licenses and permits
- Must successfully complete all initial and ongoing required training
- Must wear department-issued body armor, duty belt and all department-issued equipment while on duty
- Cover Public Safety Communications Officers and Public Safety University Service Officer shifts and breaks as needed
- Assist Director of Public Safety with creating department schedules
- Public Safety department vehicle maintenance
- Check fire extinguishers and panic alarms on campus
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous Public Safety / Patrol Officer / Security experience required
- Previous firearms experience preferred
- Previous Defense and Arrest Tactics (DAAT) preferred
- Must possess a valid driver's license, be able to drive, and be eligible to drive vehicles per MSOE driving policy
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Wisconsin Firearms Permit or meet the requirements to obtain a State of Wisconsin Firearms Permit
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Wisconsin Private Security Person License
- Must be at least 21 years of age on date of hire
- Must not be prohibited from possessing a firearm under federal or state law
- Must not be prohibited by a court order from possessing a firearm
- Successful completion of background and driving checks and a psychological evaluation
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to patrol the campus on foot, bicycle, or in a Public Safety vehicle. The employee is required to patrol campus building during their assigned shift.
- Occasional lifting or moving of heavy objects.
- This position works both inside and outside of buildings and therefore is exposed to various temperatures and weather dynamics.
- Uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and radios; operates an automobile.
