    Description

    Under the general direction of the Associate Dean performs responsible functions in the development coordination and maintenance of a meaningful consistent statewide training and development program for Job Preparedness instruction. The main responsibility is to teach an intensive job preparation curriculum and build a bridge for continued services in the community to offenders preparing for Mandatory Supervised Release. (Parole)

    Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks)

    Essential Job Functions:

    1. In cooperation with other instructors concerned prepare and revise curriculum to Instruct offenders in job preparedness
    2. Teach classes in career technology as assigned by the Associate Dean
    3. In cooperation with others make recommendations on curriculum materials
    4. Report attendance and grades as prescribed by the Associate Dean
    5. Attend faculty meetings called by the administrative officers.
    6. Be on the work site for 37.5 hours per week. (30 minute lunch)
    7. Arrive at work site prior to beginning of established shift.
    8. Arrive at the classroom prior to the scheduled class time.
    9. Serve on such committees for the betterment of the College as may be established by the administration and faculty
    10. Assist in registration as needed
    11. Consider the general and special needs of the student. Assist students in meeting needs or solving problems when necessary seek additional help from other college services
    12. Observe support and enforce the regulations policies and programs of the College and inform your supervisor in writing of any problem that might have a detrimental effect on the College
    13. Conduct oneself in a professional manner.
    14. Notify the appropriate supervisor well in advance of absences.
    15. Maintain inventory and control of flammable and caustics.
    16. Maintain accurate control of tools and keys on assignment.
    17. Prepare task lists and attendance reports as required.
    18. Maintain hourly count check on students.
    19. Assist institutional personnel during emergency situations.
    20. Prepare grant related reports as needed.
    21. Provide advisement and testing as needed
    22. Comply with Illinois Department of Corrections Regulations and procedures.
    23. Maintain Equipment assigned to area.

    Specific Functional Job Requirements

    Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor Degree Required
    Experience Requirements:
    • Teaching experience preferred
    Knowledge:
    • Knowledge of job search techniques preferred
    Skills:
    • Must be able to instruct incarcerated adults in the area of job preparation and employment searches
    Personal Requirements:
    • Good Interpersonal Skills
