Information Assurance and Security Lead Associate
Summit is seeking an
Information Assurance and Security Lead Associate
to join the Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) Ground Sustainment Services (LGSS) program. This role involves supporting the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Common Ground System (CGS), which manages command, control, communications, and data processing for JPSS missions. JPSS is NOAAs next-generation Earth observation program, critical for understanding and predicting environmental changes that affect the nations economy and safety.
Responsibilities
Provide technical services for NOAA FISMA High system computers and networks, including patching and configuring high-impact security controls per NIST 800-53.
Support NOAA cybersecurity by building, configuring, troubleshooting, and updating network security capabilities.
Monitor network connectivity and ensure high-quality data transmission using standard tools.
Develop and maintain network security processes to defend NOAAs networks.
Provide technical expertise on large or complex projects.
Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for the operations team.
Design, implement, and maintain Layer 2 and 3 networking devices and firewalls.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience with a BS/BA, 3 years with an MS/MA, or equivalent experience with a Ph.D.
Experience with Information Assurance (IA) hardening and compliance, including STIG and DSS documentation.
Strong understanding of the OSI 7-layer model and TCP/IP protocols.
Knowledge of network systems management principles, tools, and methods.
Experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira, Insight, Confluence, Risk Register, and Crucible.
Proficiency in remote collaboration tools and practices within distributed virtual teams.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster relationships with coworkers and vendors.
Highly organized with attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to different organizational levels.
Experience leading projects and process improvements to successful completion.
Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
Intermediate or higher experience in at least 2 enterprise cyber capabilities (e.g., BigFix, Tripwire, Anchore, ArcSight, Axway Validation).
