    Paramedic Position at Wilmington Health

    Purpose:

    Provides care for and treats patients in medical office, as directed by Physician, Advanced Clinical Provider, Registered Nurse or supervising department manager, by performing the following duties

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Maintains patient confidentiality
    • Work within Paramedic scope of practice
    • Performs telephone triage as needed
    • Function as part of an interdisciplinary team
    • Taking complete, accurate messages from patients and relaying them to appropriate physician
    • Use critical thinking skills in assessing patient needs and planning appropriate follow-up/intervention
    • Documents assessment and interventions thoroughly and concisely
    • Uses computer system efficiently and accurately
    • Provides patient education
    • Performs specialty procedures as trained, as well as assisting M.D. with patients in office to include but is not limited to:
    1. IV insertion and hydration therapy
    2. Administer oral and IV push medications
    3. Administer Breathing treatments
    4. Cardiac Monitoring
    5. Wound care
    6. Assist with Cardiac interventions
    7. Orthopedic care to include assessment and splinting
    8. Take thorough and accurate intake on patients
    9. Specimen Collection and processing
    10. Run lab equipment for specimens and quality control
    11. Use EMR to document assessment and treatments
    12. Always ensure patient safety and wellbeing
    13. Work within department protocols
    14. work within scope of practice always

    Other Duties:

    • As assigned by RN, Clinical Coordinator or Medical Provider

    Qualifications

    Required :

    • Current EMT-P Certification in good standing with NCOEMS

    Preferred:

    • Associates degree
    • 5+ years' experience in the field as paramedic

    ADA Physical Demands:

    Rarely (Less than .5 hrs/day) Occasionally (0.6 – 2.5 hrs/day) Frequently (2.6 – 5.5 hrs/day) Continuously (5.6 – 8.0 hrs/day)

    Kneeling/Crouching - Rarely
