About Miami Correctional Facility: Miami Correctional Facility is a level-four high-medium-security facility located in Bunker Hill, Indiana, with a capacity of more than 3,100 incarcerated adult males. The facility sits on former Grissom Air Force Base property and also includes a level-one facility with capacity for more than 200 incarcerated adult males. Miami Correctional Facility offers extensive educational and vocational programming, including a Braille translation program and a sewing shop serving community partners. Incarcerated individuals gain hands-on skills that build employability for re-entry and the programs help individuals develop strong work habits and meaningful experience.
Employees at Miami Correctional Facility support the safe and secure operations of the facility 24 hours a day 7 days per week. Depending on operational needs, assignments will include working with state incarcerated individuals and/or federal detainees.
As a Correctional Intelligence Officer at the Miami Correctional Facility, you will work with a small team of Investigators and Intelligence Analysts in an Indiana Department of Correction facility. A Correctional Intelligence Officer helps contribute to the safety and security of the facility by investigating incidents related to the correctional facility, including but not limited to misconduct by incarcerated individuals or staff, illegal activity by visitors and volunteers, and policy violations, to name a few. A typical day for a Correctional Investigator includes reviewing digital video footage, monitoring phone calls, and investigating incidents. Correctional Investigators typically work 8-hour days Monday through Friday and respond to the facility after hours for significant incidents.
Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. Eligible non-custody staff who complete required training and certification to perform federal detention duties will receive a $20 non-discretionary bonus for each shift that they are assigned those duties.
