    Responsibilities

    **This is for an upcoming opportunity

    Join a mission-driven team supporting PMS 339 and help prepare Navy Sailors to safely and effectively operate surface ship systems. As a Navy Training Instructor, DSAGT , you will deliver hands-on, operationally relevant training for Navy surface training systems—drawing on real-world fleet experience to develop curriculum, instruct Sailors, and evaluate training effectiveness across multiple platforms and locations. Your work directly supports fleet readiness, safe operations, and mission success .

    Work independently and with a team. Provide instruction to students on the skills to assess, troubleshoot and operate within specifications. Instruction is focused on preventive maintenance, Steering and Thrust Control Watchstation operations, alignment of systems in accordance with Engineering Operational Sequencing System (EOSS), technical publication guidance, and Sound Shipboard Operating Principles and Procedures. Must have knowledge in Shipboard Deck Systems: Anchor systems, accom ladders, shipboard cranes, boat handling systems, RHIBs, FAS systems/sliding padeyes, retractable chocks/bitts, hangar/stern doors/gates, weapons elevators.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Operate independently and as part of a high-performing team in a fast-paced training environment

    • Deliver classroom and hands-on instruction to Sailors, focused on assessing, troubleshooting, and operating shipboard systems to spec

    • Provide instruction specifically supporting Steering and Thrust Control Watchstation operations

    • Train Sailors on proper system alignment and operation in accordance with EOSS

    • Reinforce Sound Shipboard Operating Principles and Procedures (SSOPP) and best practices

    • Guide students in the use of technical publications, diagrams, and references used in fleet operations

    • Support continuous improvement of training programs by applying fleet lessons learned and operational feedback

    • Evaluate established programs and procedures for new construction and modernization efforts

    • Provide direct support to Navy client concerning upkeep and development of classroom and laboratories

    • Provide guidance to external agency SMEs in training program design and development

    • Evaluate effectiveness of training programs and equipment

    These positions can be executed in one of the following locations: Norfolk, VA and San Diego, CA

    Required Qualifications

    Level I: ($48,510 - $75,780)

    • Bachelor's degree in any discipline OR 7+ years of relevant naval experience

    • 5+ years professional experience in curriculum development

    • Navy Instructor Experience

    • Interim Secret Security Clearance to be able to start

    • Must be a current US Citizen

    Required Specialized Experience:

    Must have knowledge in Shipboard Deck Systems including:

    • Anchor systems

    • Accommodation ladders

    • Shipboard cranes

    • Boat handling systems, RHIBs

    • FAS systems/sliding padeyes

    • Retractable chocks/bitts

    • Hangar/stern doors/gates

    • Weapons elevators

    • Preventive maintenance procedures

    • Alignment of systems in accordance with EOSS and CSOSS

    Level II: ($75,780 - $91,755)

    • Additional senior-level oversight and program management

    • Works with greater independence and leadership responsibility

    Required Experience For Senior Position:

    • Leadership in curriculum development initiatives

    • Advanced knowledge of shipboard deck systems

    • Program evaluation and quality assurance

    • Mentoring of junior instructors

    Desired Qualifications

    • Advanced degree and/or Navy Training Systems discipline experience

    • 10+ years professional experience in curriculum development

    • Extensive Navy Instructor Experience

    Military Experience That Translates Well:

    • Surface Warfare Officers (SWO)

    • Engineering Duty Officers / LDO / CWO

    • EN, GSM, MM, EM, EOOW-qualified personnel

    • Steering Control, Thrust Control, or related watchstation experience

    • Prior instructor, trainer, or LPO/Chief experience strongly valued
