Do you enjoy working with children and serving your community? The City of Cottonwood Heights is seeking dependable and safety-minded individuals to join our team as Crossing Guards. This important role helps ensure students safely arrive to and from school each day.
Crossing Guards work outdoors during school arrival and dismissal times, assisting students and pedestrians at designated intersections and crosswalks throughout the city.
What You'll Do - Safely assist children and pedestrians crossing streets and intersections
- Monitor traffic conditions and direct crossings when appropriate
- Unlock and activate school crossing warning devices
- Place and remove traffic cones and signs before and after shifts
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, school staff, and the public
- Report developing traffic or safety concerns to supervisors
Qualifications - Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to work during school hours
- Strong sense of responsibility and reliability
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Must meet visual and hearing requirements necessary to safely perform duties
Work Schedule Typical shifts occur before and after school on school days only, making this a great opportunity for retirees, parents, or individuals seeking part-time supplemental work.
