    Senior Technicians inspect, maintain, and repair boats of all kinds. These individuals understand the working principles and how all systems and components work on a boat. They use diagnostic equipment to test and repair boat engines, hulls, propellers, rigging, and navigational equipment. Senior Technicians are responsible for providing expert technical knowledge and experience and helping to train other Teammates.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Work closely with Service Manager to provide accurate and detailed work orders

    • Conduct thorough assessment prior to starting a job including acknowledging the budgeted time and time frame for completion, proving the system and the element requiring service, sourcing parts if required

    • Expert knowledge of marine systems including electrical, plumbing & water systems

    • Proven experience troubleshooting, repair, and install vessel systems and components including but not limited to electrical, electronics, HVAC, plumbing & water systems (fresh, salt, and waste), gas and diesel engines

    • Assign parts and purchases to the appropriate vessels/tickets

    • Excellent time management skills, customer service, attention to detail, and self-motivation

    • Promote and encourage a safe working environment

    • Provide timely updates and takes initiative to exceed member satisfaction, even if it requires overcoming challenge

    • Must possess own tools

    • Significant experience with both gas and diesel engines preferred

    • Serve as a mentor for technicians new to the field or SHM

    • Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines

    Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

    • Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training

    • Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area

    • Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately

    Technical and Physical Requirements

    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

    • Marine Technical school training preferred

    • 10 years' + experience preferred

    • ABYC Master Technician preferred

    • Multiple certifications across engine brands

    • Ability to ascend and descend a ladder

    • Ability to work in confined spaces

    • Ability to lift 50 pounds

    • Basic boat handling skills preferred

    Any skills considered standard that a Senior Technician should possess
