    The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Correctional Technician in the Sheriff's Department. Under general supervision, operate and monitor video and audio equipment to ensure safety and security of inmates, juveniles, and staff; perform a variety of technical and clerical duties of moderate difficulty and support duties associated with the intake and release of inmates in the County's Jail system and juveniles in the County's Juvenile Detention Facility; enter all pertinent information into the computerized booking system; document inmate and juvenile observations; to provide public reception, access and assistance as required; and perform related duties as assigned.

    Ideal Candidate:

    • Experience operating and monitoring video/audio surveillance systems in secure detention or institutional environments
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately observe, document, and report inmate or juvenile activity
    • Able to work off-hours as needed, including evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts
    • Skilled in data entry and maintaining accurate records within computerized booking or records management systems
    • Knowledge of intake, booking, release, and detention support procedures
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations
    • Effective communication and customer service skills when assisting staff, inmates, juveniles, and the public
    • Capable of performing clerical and technical duties with accuracy in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to remain calm, professional, and observant during emergencies or high-stress situations
    • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize duties efficiently
    • Team-oriented professional committed to safety, security, and compliance with departmental procedures

    Qualifications:

    Education and Experience:
    MINIMUM: Equivalent to graduation from high school, some college level course work in law enforcement, criminal justice or a related field, or one (1) year of experience involving public contact, or general clerical such as filing, record keeping, data entry and/or typing.
    PREFERRED: In addition to the minimum, Associate's degree from accredited college with major coursework in administration of justice, criminal justice, corrections, law enforcement or related field and/or additional years of experience as defined above.

    Salary/Compensation: $3,654 - $4,020 per month
