We are a group of technologists focused on delivering tangible value to our clients; we are global, remote, and apolitical. Our business is built to endure the upheavals occurring in our industry and society and we are seeing accelerating growth. The DGC will play a pivotal role in shaping our strategy, leading the legal team, and protecting the company's interests. This role reports to the CFO and offers a promotion pathway to General Counsel.Our business is inherently disruptive; we are successfully displacing large incumbents and signing deals with national institutions. In addition to meeting the below qualifications, the ideal candidate will display grit, an inclination toward first‑principles thinking, and a desire to succeed in the face of adversity. If this sounds like you, apply below or reach out directly; we'd love to chat!What You'll Do Lead the legal function: Manage daily operations and budget to perform a broad range of legal work, providing strategic direction, first‑rate execution, and mentorship while operating with a high degree of autonomy and relying on strong organizational and prioritization skills.Oversee commercial contract management: Draft, structure, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including software service agreements, partnerships, and vendor contracts, aligning outcomes with company objectives.Develop the company's regulatory compliance framework, offering practical solutions that support innovation and growth. Maintain current knowledge of relevant laws, particularly the FCRA. Experience with financial services and the public sector is a plus.Advise leadership on risk, compliance, and legal frameworks to support our growth. Research and respond to inquiries relating to complex operational and regulatory issues.Collaborate with executives and managers to define and implement company‑wide legal and compliance policies. Leverage technology to improve scalability, strengthen collaboration, and achieve superior results faster.Corporate governance: Maintain corporate records, assist with financings, and ensure the company remains in good standing. Experience with transactions such as equity fundraising, debt financing, and M&A is a plus.Oversee and manage relationships with external legal counsel as needed to ensure high‑quality, cost‑effective support across jurisdictions and domains.Everything else: As our legal chief, you'll be the point person to help navigate a broad range of matters, including labor, privacy, IP, litigation, immigration, and more.Who You Are Experienced and qualified: You have 4–8 years of legal experience, likely a mix of big law and in‑house (or you're ready to make the jump). You have a JD from an ABA accredited program and are an active bar member in any state or regional equivalent.Pragmatic communicator: You distill legal complexity into clear, actionable, data‑driven advice for business leaders and technical teams. You can negotiate and manage complex technology transactions, preferably with experience in highly regulated industries.Startup‑minded: You understand speed and act with urgency. You optimize for business realities, not legal perfection. You thrive in a dynamic environment and are driven to establish order.
