    Poll Worker Position

    Berkeley County Government is always looking for new poll workers to staff precincts throughout the County. Poll workers have a unique opportunity to serve the community, meet your neighbors and become involved in the election process. Election duties include: processing voters, ballot distribution, activation of voting systems, ensuring compliance with election laws and procedures, and general assistance to voters. Advanced training will be provided to help guide you through this process. You will be compensated $60 for attending training, plus $75 by the County and $25 by the State for working the election day. You MUST complete both the training class and work the election day to receive compensation. You will not receive training pay if you do not work the election day.

    You MUST: - Be a registered voter, or at least 16 years of age; - Attend training and pass a certification course BEFORE each election; - Work the ENTIRE election day (6:00am until the last voter in line votes and precinct is cleaned); - Be non-partisan and neutral when working (you cannot be an elected official or immediate family of any candidate);

    You must be able to stand long periods of time, bend, stoop, have physical dexterity and lift approximately 40 pounds.

    All precinct sites vary by location and building. You will be notified in advance which location site you will be working. Once you have completed the application process, you will receive a letter in the mail when needed. It is not guaranteed that you will work your home precinct, but we do our best to keep you as close as possible. Please complete all forms within the application process.
