    The Facility Division Manager performs supervisory and skilled work managing facilities maintenance and trade crews. This position is responsible for developing best practice to ensure operational efficiency to obtain maximum productivity of division staff. Work involves overseeing maintenance, construction, general projects and/or administration of all county operated facilities.

    Examples of Duties

    Administers routine personnel matters affecting subordinates, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, instructing subordinates, scheduling, granting leave, conducting performance appraisals, disciplining, etc.

    Ensures team members are following established policies and procedures.

    Provides excellent customer service to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, officials, department heads, and vendors.

    Prepares records and reports of work activities and maintains documents and files.

    Identifies areas of improvements and concerns and accordingly develops action plans.

    Makes budget recommendations for assigned area.

    Develops annual operating and capital outlay budget proposals, and administers approved budgets including accounts payable and general ledger monitoring.

    Supervises or participates in maintenance and minor repair of departmental tools and equipment.

    Regular and punctual attendance is required.

    Confers with department heads, elected officials, architects and engineers regarding planning and installation.

    Serves as Denton County's liaison to architects, engineers, and consultants to review and finalize facility construction plans, i.e., drawings, schematics and specifications pertaining to access control, door hardware, and fire alarm systems.

    Tests, configures, and troubleshoots access control components, fire and security components, devices, wiring, electrified/manual door hardware, key systems, panic buttons, and hardware.

    Oversees the installation of access control systems, other electronic control systems, and security electronics during construction.

    Inspects projects for compliance with plans and specifications.

    Coordinates all non-sheriff department facility access-control hardware, door hardware, fire alarm and related renovation projects for Denton County. Meets with and works closely with Facility Construction Advisory Committee.

    Assists in the planning of all new facilities, including compiling budgets and cost estimates.

    Creates and maintains the appropriate project schedule and budget information on Denton County's construction related software.

    Performs access control and management duties, vendor installation work, and warranty work.

    Develops and maintains CAD drawings and documentation for access control systems, other electronic control systems, and security electronics in accordance with county technology standards.

    Controls distribution and inventory of keys for secure areas of county facilities.

    Performs other related duties as required.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree and minimum five years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

    Possession of a valid driver’s license. Must be able to obtain a State of Texas driver’s license within 90 days.

    Must be able to pass a State Criminal History background check.

    Manufacturer’s hardware training certifications such as Schlage, Vonduprin, or LCN, Comptia A+ certification, Network+ certification and/or Lenel certification in electronic security systems preferred.

    Family Medical Leave:Denton Countyemployees who have been employed for one year and who have worked 1250 hours in the preceding year may be eligible for up to twelve weeks of FMLA leave.
