About the Team:The Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center (WKCAC), a legacy venue from the 1990 Seattle Goodwill Games, stands as one of the premier natatoriums in the nation, featuring both diving and swimming complexes. Renowned for hosting the 2000 and 2012 Olympic Diving Trials, it hosted the BIG-12 Swimming and Diving Championships and the 2025 NCAA Swimming Championships.
With one of the most active competition schedules in the country, WKCAC features all-day events, including high-profile televised national and international competitions that significantly enhance King County’s reputation. Enjoy training, comprehensive benefits , and growth opportunities.Job Duties What You Will Be Doing : - Serve as the technical expert for Swiss Omega timing systems, overseeing the set-up, operation, and maintenance of timing hardware and software components during aquatic events.
- Manage meet operations through Hy-Tek Meet Manager and Team Manager, including event configuration, athlete entries, seeding, and real-time results processing and distribution.
- Create and refine customized tools, templates, and workflows that improve operational efficiency, reporting capabilities, and data accuracy.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues involving timing systems, software interfaces, and data synchronization while working independently in a fast-paced event environment.
- Design, test, and implement system modifications and specialized applications that support evolving operational needs and ensure seamless integration between timing and meet management systems.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills Qualifications You Bring : - Experience using Swiss Omega timing systems and Hy-Tek Meet/Team Manager to administer competitive swimming events.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to resolve issues related to competition timing equipment and software.
- Experience designing, testing, and modifying specialized applications or system configurations.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and report event/program concerns/urgent issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public and coworkers while providing excellent customer service.
Physical Requirements : - Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to assist with rental set-up, clean-up, and take-down.
- Ability to bend, reach, sit for long periods of time

Required Certifications : The following trainings and certifications must be obtained within 6 months of accepting the position. Both can be obtained onsite through King County Parks with a certified trainer.
- American Red Cross First Aid, CPR & AED.
- Bloodborne Pathogens & Preventing Disease Transmission.
Supplemental Information Work Location : Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center (WKCAC) at 650 SW Campus Dr., Federal Way, WA.
Work Schedule : This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. Work is onsite and schedule is based on number of events happening in any given month. Events take place on weekends throughout the day and weekdays in the evenings occasionally. The Aquatics Systems Specialist must have the ability to work evenings, weekends and/or split shifts. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
Union Representation : This position is not represented by a union.
Duration : This recruitment aims to fill a Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) position or Special Duty Assignment (SDA) with an anticipated duration of 18 to 24 months. If the position is filled by a King County employee who has successfully completed their initial probation, they will be offered the role as a Special Duty Assignment.
