Maintenance Traineepositions. As a Maintenance Trainee, you'll be an essential part of our Parks Division, working under direct supervision to carry out a diverse range of maintenance tasks, from routine duties and assisting with projects. The current vacancies are within the
Parks Facilities Maintenance, Parks Operations,and
Urban Forestrysections of the Parks Division.
Maintenance Trainees are temporary part-time “extra help" at-will positions. Extra help positions work less than 1,000 hours per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30) subject to budget availability and agency needs. What You’ll Do:Parks Facilities MaintenanceThis position will perform maintenance tasks at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Responsibilities include washing decks, vacuuming and sweeping pools, cleaning tiles, wiping down tables, cleaning debris, checking pool chemicals, and conducting equipment maintenance.
Urban ForestryThis position will primarily drive a City vehicle along a designated water route, filling water bags for newly planted trees, ensuring trees are properly staked, and conducting light weeding of tree wells.
Parks OperationsThis position is responsible for the daily opening and closing of City parks, including weekend coverage. Duties include performing routine grounds maintenance and landscaping work as part of the City’s tree and parks crew to support daily maintenance and operational activities.
Minimum Qualifications - Required Combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Desirable : related experience and knowledge of common tools used in landscape maintenance and plant care, and the operation of small motorized equipment.
License: Possession of a valid California Class C driver license and an acceptable drivers record, or ability to obtain driver's license prior to appointment, may be required.
