What you'll do
- Operate trucks on road maintenance and street repair work, hauling cold patch, hot asphalt, gravel, rock, and abrasives; transport personnel and materials to designated work sites to keep streets safe and passable.
- Operate pickup and other trucks to perform scheduled pickup and delivery of mail and supplies to assigned district headquarters; place lights and barricades at designated locations to support safe operations.
- Operate rodding, bucket, and flusher trucks to clean sanitary sewers and flush streets and thoroughfares, helping prevent backups and flooding.
- Drive trucks engaged in street-cleaning activities and participate in snow plowing and snow removal operations to maintain safe travel during all seasons.
- Drive trucks for tree crews; assist with loading brush and site cleanup where dead trees are removed; operate power saws, stump grinders, tree sprayers, and related equipment to restore affected areas.
- Drive refuse, flat-bed, and equipment-hauling trucks on established routes; operate packing and dumping controls; supervise assigned collection crews; maintain time records; ensure assigned vehicles are serviced and properly maintained; operate large construction tractors or crawler-type bulldozers to compact street and road subgrades.

Qualifications
REQUIRES
- Six (6) months of experience in the operation of trucks or other specialized automotive equipment
- Must possess a valid State-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies
- Ability to possess a valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) Class A, B, or C issued by the State of Missouri prior to the end of the employee's probationary period
- Ability to pass a physical examination, preemployment drug screen, and background check as prescribed by the City

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained. Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
