What you'll do
This is highly responsible professional and analytical work involving financial oversight, coordination, and performance management of the Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG) and other assigned grant-funded initiatives. Work is performed under general supervision, with the employee exercising independent judgment and discretion in financial analysis, grant coordination, and operational decision-making. The position serves as the primary financial liaison between program staff, Financial Services, and funding entities to support effective grant administration, ensure compliance with funding requirements, and align program operations with financial performance. Responsibilities include financial forecasting, expenditure monitoring, reporting coordination, and implementation of best practices in grant management. The position also supports departmental financial operations, including limited coordination with contract administration and travel program processes to ensure continuity of operations. Work is reviewed through reports, outcomes, and overall program effectiveness.
- Lead financial coordination for PHIG and assigned grants, aligning program activities, budgets, and funding requirements to support compliant and effective grant execution.
- Monitor grant expenditures, perform forecasting and variance analysis, and identify financial risks while providing clear recommendations to leadership.
- Coordinate and prepare required financial reports, projections, and deliverables to meet federal, state, and funding entity requirements.
- Serve as the primary financial liaison between program staff, Financial Services, and external funding partners to ensure shared understanding and timely decision-making.
- Develop and maintain financial tracking tools, projections, and audit-ready documentation to support transparency and compliance.
- Support departmental financial operations, including journal entries, budget transfers, limited contract coordination, and travel process oversight to ensure continuity of operations.

REQUIRES
- Accredited Master's in public or business administration, urban or regional planning, economics, organizational/development psychology, project management, geography and 1 year (OR an accredited Bachelor's and 3 years) of professional experience in corporate/municipal finance, research, accounting planning, project/program management, or geographical information systems analytics.
