This heavy labor position is responsible for performing the following waste water duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of the water distribution and water collection systems.
- Responsible for the repair of water/waste water problems as they arise ? Supervises the crew of 1-3 staff members in the absence of the crew leader.
- Operates equipment on water main breaks/water lines and oversees the repair of manhole rings and lids.
- Oversees smoke testing and water line testing followed with applicable repairs.
- Lays new water/sewer mains.
- Distributes public correspondence notices and smoke test notices door to door to City of Lancaster citizens.
- Available for 24 hours per day, 7 days a week unscheduled, on call status pending a water/waste water response situation.
- Assigned as primary on-call responder once per month as scheduled.
- Cleans and maintains the appearance of work equipment and work areas.
- Responsible for inventory of tools and equipment.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Class B (CDL) Drivers License with clean driving record
Class D Water Certification
Class D Waste Water Certification
Confined Space Entrant Certification
Driving is a requirement of this position
