    Overview

    The Communications Engagement Coordinator is responsible for developing and nurturing robust relationships with stakeholders, community organizations, and community groups. This role necessitates a strategic mindset, exemplary communication skills and the ability to effectively engage with diverse audiences. This position is responsible for coordinating opportunities to build connectivity, support outreach initiatives, and leverage various communication channels to increase and encourage engagement for all City Initiatives and related activities.

    Responsibilities

    • Collaborates closely with all communications personnel

    • Supports and coordinates the development and implementation of an integrated external communications strategy that aligns with the City's overall goals and objectives

    • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with a wide range of stakeholders

    • Plays an instrumental role in building awareness of the City's initiatives by crafting compelling narratives and establishing relationships with relevant influencers

    • Clearly articulates key messages verbally and in written form

    • Develops an external newsletter, including a variety of written content, messaging, FAQs, bios, pitches, and coordinates other materials to support the goals of the Communications Department

    • Identifies and coordinates media movements and trends across various subject areas to develop proactive outreach opportunities

    • Assists in establishing measurable KPl's to ensure effective use of resources by reviewing the effectiveness of external communications strategy and implementation

    • Fosters trust to successfully build relationships with external stakeholders, community leaders, businesses, and other organizations on behalf of the City

    Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

    • Exempt - Full-Time - 40-hour work week

    • Must be available to work additional hours as needed

    • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

    • In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS)

    • Three (3) years of experience

    Licenses and Certifications

    Required

    • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hiring

    Basis of Rating

    A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
