    The Police Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining public safety and enforcing the law within the community.     Responsibilities
    Patrol designated areas to deter and detect criminal activity.
    Respond promptly to emergency calls and incidents, providing assistance as needed.
    Conduct thorough investigations of crimes, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
    Prepare detailed reports on incidents, arrests, and investigations.
    Enforce laws and ordinances related to public safety, traffic regulations, and criminal offenses.
    Manage conflicts effectively to prevent escalation and ensure public safety.
    Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies during investigations or special operations.
    Utilize surveillance techniques to monitor suspicious activities or individuals.
    Handle animals in distress or involved in incidents as necessary.
    Provide first aid assistance in emergency situations until medical personnel arrive.
    Experience
    Candidates should possess a strong background in law enforcement or a related field. Ideal applicants will have experience in report writing, loss prevention strategies, conflict management, and criminal investigation techniques. Additional skills in surveillance operations and animal handling will be considered beneficial. A commitment to ongoing training and professional development is essential for success in this role. Applicants must be a U. S. Citizen, have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess a valid Virginia driver's license with a good driving record and pass an extensive background investigation.
    Attending a Criminial Justice Training Academy is required for non-certified applicants.
