Weatherford is also becoming a destination place for many visitors because of our large-scale events. Our signature events include Spark in the Park and Holiday in the Park attracting over 30,000 people each year.

Additionally, Weatherford’s location next to the Interstate 20 corridor has attracted retail and restaurant chains for residents and visitors to enjoy. It is anticipated that Weatherford will be welcoming many more new businesses to the area within the next five years; many of which will be major developments for Parker County’s economic development vitality.

 

Our Growth & Future Development

Over the course of four years, the City of Weatherford has seen a population growth of over 8,000 people and we expect to double this growth number. Sitting at a current population count of 38,722, the City’s growth is attributed to our proximity to the Metroplex. The City’s major commercial and industrial employers find Weatherford attractive because we offer convenient access to the region’s major transportation and shipping infrastructure, an advantage few cities within the area can offer.

What we offer to our Employees:

The Weatherford Parker County Animal Shelter is looking to hire an Animal Care Technician. This position will perform work related to the general cleaning and comfort of the animals at the shelter. Enforces State and Federal animal regulations, rabies control and issues citations or files complaints on violations Removes wild animals from residences on request by servicing and maintaining traps, delivering and demonstrating the proper use of traps, setting traps, picking up trapped animals and relocating the animal or administering euthanasia drugs. Investigates and inspects animal nuisances including bites and animal cruelty and issue citations and notices to owners for the mistreatment of animals. Communicates effectively via radio, telephone, email, and in person with citizens, co-workers, supervisors, including persons of diverse backgrounds, without bias and prejudice. Qualifications • Associate's degree in a related field of study. Previous experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree where appropriate. • Must have or obtain Basic Animal Control Certification issued by the Texas Department of Health within six (6) months of employment. • Must have or obtain Euthanasia Certification issued by the Texas Department of Health within six (6) months of employment. • Due to the nature of the position, criminal history must be clear. • Must have a valid Class C Texas Driver’s License. The Systems Analyst will oversee the development and management of application portfolios for each department and will attain all service level agreements for the user community within the organization.
