It is anticipated that Weatherford will be welcoming many more new businesses to the area within the next five years; many of which will be major developments for Parker County’s economic development vitality.

Over the course of four years, the City of Weatherford has seen a population growth of over 8,000 people and we expect to double this growth number. GENERAL SUMMARY The fundamental reason this classification exists is to conduct general inspections, new construction inspections, plans review, and other duties related to fire prevention codes, ordinances, regulations, or standards. The Assistant Fire Marshal is also required to conduct on-the-scene fire investigations to determine the origin and cause of fires, make necessary arrests, and prepare arson case materials for successful criminal prosecutions. The Assistant Fire Marshal works with the Fire Marshal to build and delivery fire prevention education programs to the public. A member in this position often works independently in the field and is responsible for decision-making requiring discretion, judgment, and familiarity with laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, and standards. This position is appointed by the Fire Chief and supervises members of the department that are temporarily assigned to Prevention. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Conduct fire safety inspections and ensure compliance with fire codes and regulations. Investigate fire incidents to determine causes and develop prevention strategies. Collaborate with other agencies and community organizations to promote fire safety education. Assist in developing and implementing fire prevention programs.
