    THE POSITION

    The Town of Prescott Valley is seeking a Library Assistant I - PT to provide support to the Circulation Department and provide exemplary customer service to members of the public.

    Examples of Duties

    IN THIS POSITION YOU WILL:

    • Guide library users in locating physical and digital materials across the library collection. Provide basic reference assistance, reader's advisory, and technology support for devices, eBooks, online databases, and public computer stations.


    • Delivery friendly, proactive service to diverse internal and external patrons. Respond to and resolve service-related issues, interpret library policies with professionalism and elevate complex matters to supervisory staff when appropriate.


    • Staff the service desk to perform check-in/check-out, register new library users, process fines and fees, place holds, and maintain accurate patron records using the integrated library system (ILS). Take payments for balances due on patron accounts and for bookstore sales.


    • Maintain the organization and visual appeal of library collections. Shelve materials accurately, conduct shelf-reading, and assist in special collections projects or displays as needed.


    • Promote a safe and respectful library environment by recognizing and addressing inappropriate behavior in accordance with library policies, and by promptly reporting incidents when needed.


    Typical Qualification

    Requirements:
    • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in customer service or similar function of any combined education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities for the job.


    • Must be able to pass a background check.


    • Skill in organizational and time management to prioritize duties to accomplish a high volume of work product while adapting to constant changes in priority.


    • This position will work 20 hours per week and include Saturdays.


    Compensation:

    PT Employees are not eligible for our full benefit package, however they do earn general leave at a prorated amount each paycheck and will participate in Arizona State Retirement System.

    The expected hiring range is $20.28 - $21.29

    The full salary range is $20.28 - $28.39

    Part-time regular employees:
    • General Leave: 125 hours the first 5 years then increasing after 5 years.
    • Holidays: Eleven (11) paid holidays prorated
    • Workers' Compensation: Southwest Risk Insurance; Subsidizes lost wages and provides medical benefits as mandated by the state for on the job work related illness or injuries.
    • Direct Deposit: Paychecks are deposited directly into the employee's bank account(s) on a bi-weekly schedule.
