The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours (four years of experience).Special RequirementsApplicants convicted of a misdemeanor violent crime or a felony, or under indictment on a felony charge, are disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.Ability to handle and carry firearms.Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.Job DutiesSupervise felony and misdemeanor offenders through counseling, case management, and referrals to community resources that support rehabilitation and social adjustment.Enforce conditions of probation and parole by monitoring compliance, managing violations, and participating in all stages of the violation process.Conduct criminal justice investigations and prepare reports and recommendations for courts, parole and pardon boards, and other criminal justice decision makers.Conduct arrests, transport violators, and participate in probable cause, revocation, and disciplinary hearings.Investigate and manage restitution, supervision fees, fines, court costs, and other criminal justice‑related financial obligations.Coordinate offender placement in drug treatment, vocational rehabilitation, mental health, and other support programs while providing crisis intervention and emergency assistance resources.Administer drug testing, supervise community service activities, and ensure compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards and agency policies.Assist with jail and contract compliance audits for facilities and Community Rehabilitation Centers (CRCs), including applying defensive tactics and maintaining institutional safety and security.Position Specific DetailsAppointment TypeCurrent permanent status classified state employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment.
