Overview With general supervision from Testing and Inspecting (T&I) Manager or designee, the FM T&I Worker provides testing and inspecting services for fire protection systems. Campus systems include fire alarm, sprinkler and extinguishment equipment. The employee coordinates services with their manager and is responsible for maintaining key management. Performs whole building fire extinguisher swap outs including assisting with maintaining inventory to track those swap outs. Subject to shift changes and extended working hours (including nights, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays) to meet business needs. The occupants of this position will be represented by Teamsters Local 317.Note: This is a benefits-eligible, union position within the Teamsters Local 317. The starting pay rate is $22.47/hour.Responsibilities Provide testing and inspecting services for fire protection systems (fire alarm, sprinkler, extinguishment equipment).Coordinate testing/inspection activities with the manager.Maintain key management practices.Perform whole building fire extinguisher swap outs and assist with inventory to track swap outs.Maintain flexibility to meet business needs, including potential extended hours as required.Qualifications A.S. in Fire Science or High School Diploma with 3 years of equivalent experience.General knowledge of the NFPA and New York State Building Codes.Knowledge of fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and other emergency equipment that comprise fire protection systems.Effective communication skills (oral and written) to interact with university faculty, staff, students, and outside agencies.Ability to use equipment and instrumentation requiring close concentration and visual attention.Manual dexterity to operate on ladders and with protective equipment.Valid US driver\'s license and good driving record.Ability to pass a rigorous background check prior to final appointment; ongoing background or security checks may be required.Experience modeling values that support inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing.Preferred Qualifications A.A.S. in Fire Protection or knowledge of fire alarm/sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and related equipment (preferred).Additional Information No relocation or visa sponsorship available.Notice to Applicants and EEO statements are provided in the posting.#J-18808-Ljbffr
