Job Description
Nestled among lush grape vineyards and expansive farmland of the San Joaquin Valley, the charming City of Fowler is five miles south of Fresno along the Highway 99 corridor. Long considered one of Fresno County’s best-kept secrets, Fowler is one of the most beautiful, diverse, and historically rich cities of the 15 communities within the County. This friendly community of approximately 7,000 residents is known for its quality of life based on an attractive, quaint downtown, well-kept and safe neighborhoods, and a highly acclaimed school district. The Fowler City Council and staff are dedicated to maintaining and upgrading a desirable, quality lifestyle enjoyed by city residents. The City Manager, appointed by City Council, directs and supervises the operation of all City departments and programs, sees to the preparation and management of the municipal budget, develops and implements City administrative procedures, analyzes legislation, provides intergovernmental representation, and ensures that the Council’s legislative acts, policies, and programs are implemented. The City is seeking an engaged, strategic, and visionary leader to serve as the next City Manager. The ideal candidate is a team player who wants to be involved in the community. The incoming City Manager will bring an understanding of the Central Valley and a desire to support each department and move forward with a growth mindset. The successful candidate will be an active, engaged manager who builds relationships and has a value system based on transparency, ethics, integrity, and a personal approach that engenders high trust and confidence.
The annual salary range for the City Manager is $175,000 - $225,000; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
