    Job Description

    Scottsdale Aquatics is seeking Assistant Pool Managers to help oversee daily operations across our four pool facilities and support a team committed to strong safety practices, excellent service, and engaging aquatic activities. In this role, you’ll collaborate with Pool Managers, mentor staff on deck, and help foster an environment where swimmers of all ages feel supported.

    Assistant Pool Managers work a broad range of hours - from early-morning lap swimmers to evening programs - and must be available any day of the week, including select holidays. If you’re steady under pressure, enjoy leading teams, and are excited to help shape meaningful aquatic experiences, this could be your next step.

    Please note:
    • Assistant Pool Managers must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire.
    • Part-time positions offer limited, legally required benefits and are unclassified, at-will roles serving at the discretion of the city.
    • Interviews and skills testing will occur periodically as applications are received.
    • This recruitment will be used to fill part-time positions at all four aquatic centers as needed and will establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.
    • Applicants without a current lifeguard certification must successfully complete the StarGuard Lifeguard Certification course offered by the City of Scottsdale.
    • Work schedules vary depending on the needs of the aquatic center, and typically require some evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    The City of Scottsdale is proud to announce that they will reimburse an individual for the full cost of the StarGuard Lifeguard Certification, so long as they meet the following criteria:
    • Valid lifeguarding certification must be issued by StarGuard and class taken with the City of Scottsdale.
    • Must provide Active Net account name/number used to purchase lifeguarding class.
    • An employee must be a quality performer for the first 90 consecutive days from date of hire.


    The starting rate of pay is $21.51 per hour; additional compensation may be offered dependent upon years of experience. Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $25.29/hour.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience:
    • No education is required for this position.
    • Any combination of training and experience equivalent to two seasons (6-9 months) aquatic experience as a Head Lifeguard/Lifeguard and/or Certified Swim Instructor.
    • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of hire.

    Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements:
    • Must possess current StarGuard Lifeguard and Starfish Swim Instructor certification OR current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Water instructor Certifications by the time of hire.
    • Proof of current certifications or proof of enrollment in StarGuard Lifeguard and Starfish Swim Instructor classes must be shown at time of interview.
    • Candidates must successfully pass an OSHA-required respirator physical within 45 calendar days of hire or promotion, and annually thereafter.
    • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.

    Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/service assignment.
