David Ivers is from Sydney, Australia. He is a qualified Primary and Secondary School Teacher. In total, he has served on school leadership teams for 16 years in senior leadership roles which include: Religious Education Coordinator, Curriculum Coordinator, and Leader of Pedagogy. He is currently a System Leader with Sydney Catholic Schools (Sydney, Australia), where he serves as Specialist: Religious Leadership. With studies in Anthropology / Sociology, Curriculum, Online Learning and Teaching, Information Communications Technology, Religious Education and Theology, Leadership, Communication, Policy Studies, Business, Management, and Educational Administration, he brings a diversity of skills and knowledge to the educational and leadership arena. In 2014 David Ivers completed the program “Improving Schools: The Art of Leadership” at Harvard Graduate School of Education. He has completed a (Graduate Level) Certificate in Executive Leadership from Cornell University and holds a Master of Educational Administration from the University of New South Wales, Australia. David completed the Company Directors’ Course and has since become a Graduate the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and is a Fellow of the Institute of Managers and Leaders (Australia and New Zealand) (FIML). The 4th of July is Independence Day in the United States of America. Having experienced the celebrations first hand on July 4, 2014, in Washington DC, it would be fair to say that it was more than a celebration of Independence. It was also a celebration of culture, of beliefs and of values.
“And did you get what you wanted out of life, even so?”
This wonderful quote used in the ‘2016 Commencement Speech’ at Harvard Graduate School of Education, is poetic, poignant and prophetic. Derived from a poem by Raymond Carver, it captures our imagination, in particular as it is one the major questions in life that we all must answer, according to Professor James Ryan, Dean of the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Each year on April 25, the countries of Australia and New Zealand hold a public holiday to commemorate ANZAC Day. The day remembers the day that the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) landed on the shores of Gallipoli (modern day Turkey) in 1915.
Once you have been offered the job, accepted it and have started your career with it, you should from time to time return to your Resume and ask yourself: Is something missing from my Resume?

So, you tidied up your Résumé, polished off your Cover Letter and sent your job application in. It seems like months ago that you did that and at last the phone call has arrived. You tell your friends and family that you think you’ve got the job, if you can only get through the interview next week! It can’t be that hard, could it?
A good resume gives information about you, a great résumé tells a story, so that you (the employer) feel compelled to ask questions and learn more.
You have worked hard at developing your career and won a promotion, a junior leadership role. Well done! All you have to do is work hard in this new job and your future in leadership is assured! That’s the plan.
