Careers In Government, Inc. announced today that it has been named among the top career websites for 2013 by the prestigious Forbes business publishing group. This is the second straight year that CareersInGovernment.com (CIG) has received this distinction by Forbes, who first introduced the list in 2012. Of note, once again, CIG was the only career site devoted to jobs in state and local government and education to make the coveted list.
Forbes took nominations from readers and combed through some 700 sites in order to compile their list. Over 2,000 comments, emails and tweets were received in making and supporting recommendations. “Our goal was to assemble a comprehensive guide to smart and engaging sites. We hope we’ve come up with a thorough list of online destinations for interns, job seekers, business owners, established professionals, retirees, and anyone else looking to launch, improve, advance, or change his or her career,” stated Jacquelyn Smith of Forbes Staff.
CIG’s recent programming and technological upgrades, appealing and more easily navigable site redesign, intensive social media outreach, content enhancements and key strategic partnerships are credited with ushering in a new era of growth for the venerable site which first went online in 1996. “Making the Forbes list once again is particularly gratifying to us because it is akin to a “peoples’ choice” award. It validates our efforts over the past couple of years to listen and respond to the needs of both employers and job seekers,” said Corey Hurwitz, Chief Executive Officer of Careers In Government, Inc.
