Job Duties What You Will Be Doing: Interpret and provide management with information on current King County administrative policies and procedures. Develop, implement and evaluate methods for monitoring existing and new administrative systems to support work activities in the section. Participate in strategic planning efforts and help develop and/or revise policies and procedures for section. Track section daily financial transactions, support reconciliation, training and support admin team and staff in these processes. Provide reports on expenses in section and support budget planning based on current financial data. Support procurement needs, which may include vendor support, creating scopes of work for small contracts and work orders as well as routing and tracking the process. Serve as the records management lead for the section. Provide technical expertise to internal staff. This includes supporting all section staff on processes and procedures and supporting Teams and SharePoint locations where electronic records and records are stored. Develop and manage projects of limited scope within work unit. Prepare presentation materials and publications for internal use. Do you want to spend part of the summer earning money while learning and challenging yourself? Then read on to learn more about this internship opportunity! About the Role: The Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) is partnering with the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust to provide a high school summer internship program. We are seeking 12 interns interested in learning how government agencies, nonprofit organizations and local communities influence the health of the waterways in the Puget Sound region. Interns will gain a deep understanding of the role we all play in this issue, and the careers that contribute to improving water quality and protecting the environment. Interns will learn about environmental and social justice issues by participating in field trips and workshops. A large component of the internship involves practicing communication skills and improving public speaking. The goal is for interns to pass on the knowledge they gain to members of their school and community. This is a five-week program that runs Monday-Friday, July 8 - August 9, 2024. Interns will work approximately 28 hours per week. About the Team: The Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Section of the Wastewater Treatment Division is tasked with ensuring safe, environmentally protective treatment of wastewater for King County, serving 34 wholesale customers and approximately 1.9 million residents. Job Duties What You Will Be Doing : Supervise and direct the work of lead, skilled trades, semi-skilled trades for a Shift Operations Crew at the West Point Treatment Plant. Supervisory responsibilities include hiring, review, and evaluate employee job performance and provide constructive feedback; provide mentoring; recommend and/or initiate disciplinary action. Plan, schedule, coordinate, monitor and review the daily work of a crew and the long-range planning and scheduling of a crew. Ensure timely completion and quality of work by crew. Participate in long-range facilities planning. Requisition supplies and equipment, maintain inventory, ensure requisition procedures are followed and make budget decisions. Review plans, designs or procedures for assigned segment of major construction projects with contractors, design engineers, vendors, and agency's construction management division. Organize, coordinate, and provide technical expertise on long-range special projects; provide direction to senior staff on special projects.
