The primary responsibilities of this position are creating and leading activities, ordering and managing camp supplies, managing field trips, providing day-to-day directions to staff, and providing excellent customer service to parents and caregivers. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and leadership skills. Previous experience at the East Avenue Camp program is a huge plus! Training will be provided. Responsibilities Program Administration: Independently Coordinate the Project IMPACT program, collaborating with Accessibility Services’ (AS) Director as needed. Specialized Administrative Functions: Project annual budget for each of the five award years. Develop the proposed budget and budget narrative as directed for the Department of Education’s Program Officer each year of the grant cycle. Reconcile monthly budgets with Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) to ensure compliance with TRIO regulations for spending. Make suggestions regarding revisions to the proposed budget to the Director of AS to ensure efficient use of federal funds. Plan Individual Services to Students: Create and lead individualized educational and disability-related support goals for student participants to promote a “holistic” academic and personal life balance. Meet with participants individually to address goals as stated above, coaching students through academic skill development. Reevaluate and adjust supports for individual students at risk of not meeting persistence and graduation goals. Create, organize and deliver content-driven workshops to program participants on a quarterly basis in required content areas. Ensure student completion of all necessary applications for Financial Aid, including the FAFSA, on an annual basis. May provide direct tutoring to a program participant when a tutor is unable to be secured in this same subject. Some experience in public safety and/or security/loss prevention is desired but not required. WORKING CONDITIONS This position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities for the entire shift. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in using a computer keyboard. The need to lift, drag and push equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. When in the field, this position is required to walk and stand during emergency situations, including on uneven and slippery surfaces. Park Rangers are tasked with the protection of property and maintenance of order, dissemination of information, and enforcement of the rules and regulations of the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District. Schedules will vary depending upon the needs of HARD and agreed upon availability of personnel. However, Ranger hours will not exceed forty (40) hours per week, and may be adjusted seasonally. Although scheduling is flexible, personnel must be available for consistent day shifts, evenings/nights shifts, weekend shifts and holidays, with most shifts between 6:00 a.m. and midnight. A Park Ranger does not have police officer responsibilities but does assist local law enforcement agencies through the use of radio communications and in the enforcement of HARD rules and regulations.
