Job Summary ROLE OF THE DEAN The dean reports directly to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and is the lead academic and administrative officer for the college. The dean leads and executes strategic planning and visioning for the college. The dean provides support for the faculty of CAFES by creating a positive environment for teaching, scholarship and professional engagement, and service to the University and community. Job/Department Summary: Under general supervision, the Irrigation Specialist maintains and repairs grounds irrigation systems including modification of existing systems and the planning, cost estimating, and installation of new systems. The Irrigation Specialist performs specialized work on irrigation systems in grounds areas for a major portion of the incumbent’s work time. Incumbents in the Groundsworker classification or other grounds classifications may maintain sprinkler heads, make minor repairs to sprinkler lines, set clocks on automatic control devices in an assigned area of the campus on an occasional basis, and occasionally assist an Irrigation Specialist in specialized irrigation system maintenance work. Facilities Management and Services (FMS) is a large, complex department consisting of approximately 180 employees working various shifts and providing diverse administrative and operational services campus wide. Required Education and Experience: Two years of experience in the care and maintenance of landscaped areas or general grounds, with one year in the maintenance, repair, or modification of irrigation systems and irrigation equipment.
