Full-time position available with the KC Water Distribution System Repair Division located at 2409 E. 18th Street Salary Range: $14.82-$23.16/hour Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Thursday, 5:00 P.M. to 3:30 A.M. Application Deadline Date: Open Until Filled Responsibilities Works as a skilled crew member in the installation, replacement, repair, and maintenance of water distribution mains and lines, valves, and hydrants. Participates in the installation of water mains, valves, and hydrants. Repairs leaks and brakes in existing pressured mains. Locates and manipulates valves and keys to regulate the water system. Operates tapping machines to make major water main line taps. Lays pipe by hand or by guiding the activities of a backhoe, hoist or crane operation. Participates in the restoration of work site locations and street surfaces. Backfills excavations, restores dirt work,, seeds or sods, sets up erosion control measures, tears down and replaces fences. Replaces landscaping, utilizing proper techniques in minimizing damages to existing utilities. Assists in digging trenches and other excavations. Shores deep excavation. Follows all City policies concerning safety in the work place. Operates various types of motorized construction and maintenance equipment. Operates jackhammer in cutting and breaking concrete, asphalt or rock. Removes waste material from work site. Drives dump truck for hauling construction material. Drives crew trucks and pickup trucks in transporting personnel and materials to designated work sites. Operates a front-end loader up to 2 ½ cubic yard in loading sweeper piles, broken pipe, dirt, rocks, and debris. Operates crane trucks and forklifts for loading pipe or other materials. Operates tandem dump trucks to haul debris or rocks for backfill. Operates uniloader for landscaping and grade and seed. Operates other equipment as needed. Services assigned equipment with fuel, oil, water, and grease. Other Information URGENT!!! Unless otherwise stated, the requirement of "an accredited" degree includes only those degrees obtained from colleges or universities listed with the U. S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
