ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following: • Journey-level Paint Work - Prepares surfaces for painting and finishing to include repair or replacement of drywall and ceiling tiles; Performs minor associated maintenance such as replacement of baseboards, light covers, emergency exit signs, light and outlet switch plates. Required Qualifications • Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in area of expertise, Ethnic Studies, Asian American Studies, or a related field by the time of appointment • Experience working collaboratively with colleagues and community • Ability to balance teaching, scholarship/creative activities, and service • Evidence of successful teaching experience at the college or university level • Demonstrated commitment to and excellence in undergraduate teaching of a very diverse student population, including first-generation college students, low-socioeconomic students, and racially minoritized students • Demonstrated commitment to department, university and community service, and student co-curricular activities • Demonstrated expertise and scholarly interest in topics related to one or more of the following: comparative studies; justice and human rights; global and transnational studies; contemporary politics; community engaged learning; civic engagement; economic justice; community-based intersectional research and methodology; cultural production as practitioner and/or scholar; visual culture, arts, and media; or transformative social change and activism • Demonstrated community-based engagement with Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Studies and/or Ethnic Studies. Our Department currently awards the Bachelor of Arts in Ethnic Studies with an Option in Asian American Studies and the Minor in Asian American Studies. With the approval of AB 1460, state legislation that requires all California State University graduates to complete an Ethnic Studies Requirement, the Department is entering an exciting phase of growth. Currently five tenured, full-time faculty (two full, three associate) are housed completely within the Department. We are based within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and enjoy extensive institutional support through our interdisciplinary collaborations across the university with full- and part-time faculty whose teaching and research interests include some aspect of Asian-Pacific Islander-Desi American (APIDA) studies. Strong working relationships with the Ethnic Studies Departments of African American Studies and Chicana/o Studies, the Asian American and Pacific Islander Faculty & Staff Association, the Asian Pacific American Resource Center, the Student Association for Asian American Studies, alumni, and various community-based organizations in Orange County also contribute to the Department's evolution. Faculty are engaged with community-based research projects both locally in Orange County/Southern California and transnationally.
