      • Position Summary
      • Full-time position available on or after April 9, 2025 for Mail Services.

      • Duties Under general supervision of Support Services Manager, Property Clerk I, is responsible for property control on campus such as the operation of a complete property control systems including shipping and receiving, public surplus services. Incumbents may work independently or lead a small clerical staff, depending upon the size and complexity of the property accounting function.
        Services for this area fall under the larger umbrella of Support Service, that not only include Property Control but also Print Shop and Mail Room for Stanislaus State campus.

      • Job Duties
      • Duties include but are not limited to:
        • Maintain an organized property control system by tagging, tracking, and reconciling inventory records with control accounts.
        • Inspect incoming shipments, ensuring they match purchase orders and meet quality standards.
        • Apply property tags and record item locations and assigned custodians.
        • Coordinate delivery of items to campus departments, ensuring accurate tracking and distribution from receipt through final delivery.
        • Manage temporary storage for received items awaiting tagging or delivery, maintaining security and control over inventory.
        • Conduct regular physical inventory checks and report missing or misplaced items according to property control policies.
        • Process acquisitions by tagging and recording new property and coordinating with departments for item receipt.
        • Handle return shipments for incorrect or damaged items, documenting returns and coordinating with vendors for replacements.
        • Follow protocols for disposing of surplus items, ensuring proper approvals, and documenting disposals for auditing purposes.
        • Manage surplus property by preparing items for transfer, updating records, and ensuring compliance with disposal guidelines.
        • Adhere to CSU and university policies for property management, ensuring compliance with all regulations, including but not limited to shipping and receiving and public surplus sales.
        • Maintain updated records for all tagged items, including special handling for high-risk or grant-funded property, and manage documentation to support compliance.
        • Support audits by preparing compliance reports, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and facilitating regulatory reviews as needed.
        • Ensure records for incoming and outgoing shipments are up-to-date to support both internal audits and external regulatory checks.
        • May be required to obtain additional training and/or certification as part of professional development, based on department and/or campus needs, to stay current with industry standards.

        • At the direction of appropriate administrator, may provide support to other departments/areas withing functional area/department as needed.

      • Minimum Qualifications
      • Education : None
        Experience : Two years of experience inventorying and maintaining control records for a wide variety of property and equipment or expendable storekeeping items. Prospective applicants who have not had the experience listed may be considered eligible based on other evidence of meeting the above minimum qualifications of the position.
      • Preferred Qualifications
        • 1-3 years of related property control experience or related area.
        • 1-3 years of shipping and receiving experience or related areas.
        • 1-3 years of experience in record keeping for property or related areas.
        • 1-3 years of experience in inventory control or related area.
        • Prior experience selling Public Surplus or related area.
        • Prior experience working in a higher education or CSU property setting.
      • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
        • General knowledge of the methods and practices used in inspecting, maintaining, issuing, taking and recording inventory.
        • Working knowledge of property accounting and disposal as well as of information needed for departmental budget preparation.
        • Ability to inspect and recommend proper maintenance of property.
        • Ability to reconcile inventories with control accounts.
        • Ability to supervise the work of others.
        • Ability to keep inventory control records and make reports.
        • Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
        • Ability to make mathematical calculations.
      • Special Conditions
        • May be required to work after-hours, evenings, or weekends.
        • Travel between Turlock and Stockton Campuses and third party agencies.
      • License or Certifications
        • Valid California Driver’s License.

      • Salary Range
      • Anticipated salary will be $3,680-$4,048 per month plus excellent paid benefits. Salary will depend on the qualifications of the successful finalist. (Full range: $3,680- $6,033 per month)
