Why you’ll love this position:As part of the leadership team of Missouri's Department of Health and Senior Services, (DHSS), the Director of Administration will have the opportunity to lead and motivate department teams and manage the successful operation of administrative functions within DHSS. Works closely with the Directors of each Division in oversight of the department's finances, operations, and physical facilities. This position will help develop budgets and oversees the adherence to regulatory guidelines.
- Prepare, track and administer the department's annual budget request ($2.5 billion)
- Monitor department expenditures to ensure financial accountability
- Present budget and other information at legislative committee hearings and to individual legislators
- Oversee approximately 45,000 vendor payments annually
- Account for approximately 200 federal grants
- Direct, develop and oversee approximately 2,300 contracts and amendments
- Oversee receipt of funds and ensure timely deposit in the state treasury
- Serve as liaison to the State Auditor's Office regarding audit matters, and supervise internal audits of agency programs
- Prepare and oversee fiscal note responses for legislation impacting the department
- Provide supervision of fixed asset control, warehouse, vehicle fleet and mail services; manage approximately 95 leases and state office building sites
Minimum Qualifications: - Strong leadership and communication skills
- Extensive experience in budget, fiscal, and grant management
- Experience with policy development and implementation
- Knowledge of public health and the healthcare industry is preferred
- A bachelor's degree in public, business, or healthcare administration, or a closely related field is required
- Master's degree is preferred
