Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent plus six (6) months of experience in a related field.
- Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years.
- Completion of an accredited automotive, diesel or related certification program or an Associate’ degree from an accredited college or university in a related field may substitute for required experience up to a maximum of six (6) months.
Licenses or Certifications: - Required a Class “C” Driver’s License.
- If required, must obtain an appropriate Commercial Driver’s License ( CDL ) within ninety (120) days of employment with the City.

The Fleet Equipment Technician I will perform maintenance and repairs on various systems on a diverse fleet with different types of vehicles and equipment to include roadside call-outs for breakdowns and repairs.
The location and work schedule of this position may include day and evening hours, weekends and holidays.
This position is considered an essential position which means it is expected that an employee comes to work during any City closure or emergency to include bad weather and any other unexpected events or shutdowns.

$22.82 - $25.78
Hours
- 1st Shift: 5:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (Monday - Friday)
- 2nd Shift: 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. (Monday - Friday)
- 3rd Shift: 8 pm - 7 am (Sunday - Wednesday)
Please note: The position location and schedule may change based upon business needs.
Various day/evening shifts.
Evening, overnight, weekend and/or holiday hours may be required based upon operational needs.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
Refuels and performs preventive maintenance on a variety of types of vehicles and other equipment. Changes all type of tires and perform repairs to small tires. Lubricates vehicles and changes oil and filters. Initiates minor repairs and changes belts, hoses, windshield wipers, etc. Records maintenance and service information and data on designated forms. Transports vehicles of all types including heavy vehicles.

* Essential duties are performed in a service center environment with exposure to a variety of motorized equipment, spare parts, tools, oil and lubrication, corrosive liquids, and other potentially hazardous materials. Incumbent may be exposed to loud noise, warm and cold conditions, standing for long periods, frequent stooping and bending, and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.
