What You'll Be DoingWake County's Energy Program primarily focuses on the Crisis Intervention Program (CIP). CIP is a program that provides assistance to low-income families who are experiencing a heating- or cooling-related crisis. This team administers additional funding sources and programs to assist individuals with their utilities, including: Low Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP), Emergency Assistance under Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF-EA), WCEA( Wake County Emergency Assistance Program).
Wake County is currently seeking an Energy Assistance - Eligibility Caseworker II to join this amazing team. This position will be based in the Swinburne Center Building. Training will also be located in the Swinburne Center.
The Energy Assistance - Eligibility Caseworker II is responsible for the following:
• Interview individuals in person to obtain the necessary information to determine eligibility
• Assesses client's situation and provide appropriate information about economic benefits, referrals to community resources and other services
• Enter all required data into computer system in order to authorize benefits
• Requests the verification needed to determine eligibility according to program policy and evaluate the information provided and make eligibility determination
• Provide back up to other caseworkers, working reports, providing accurate and timely documentation, and utilizing document management system for caseload management

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - High school degree or GED
- Three years of job-related experience
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record may be required.
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - Three years or more of determining income eligibility for the Energy Assistance programs or a related program
- Proficiency and knowledge of NCFast
- Experience and knowledge with OnBase or another records management system
How Will We Know You're 'The One'? - Knowledge in NCFAST for Energy Assistance programs
- Ability to apply complex policy to determine client budgets
- Proficient in calculating budgets
- Ability to review and assess financial information
- Ability to interpret policy and translate complex concepts to the public
- Ability to perform satisfactorily within a deadline-driven environment with short timeframes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with great attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in an environment with frequent changes
- Proficient with basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel) and NCFAST, Hyland OnBase (PRIME), and OLV
- Strong ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers by listening, understanding, and responding to identified needs
